Microphones

Setting up the microphone is easy and takes less than a minute before class starts.

Tips for setting up the microphone:

  • when you turn on the transmitter, the light should turn green
  • place the lapel microphone on your shirt about 3-4 inches from your chin, in the middle – this placement will still pick up sound when you turn your head to the side
  • control the volume through the Crestron panel – see below for the system used in your classroom
  • where applicable, keep the microphone volume higher than source volume (e.g., from laptop) to help prevent feedback
  • be sure to turn off microphone when done and return to charger if applicable

Older Crestron system (most classrooms):

  • control the mic volume on the touch screen, and the source volume from the right hand buttons
  • turn off microphone when not using (rather than hitting mute button)
    • press projector button, then mic icon
  • if you have a system that is not rechargeable, it is helpful to bring 9V batteries with you

Here’s a quick video summarizing how to use this system:

A few classrooms are equipped with a different touch screen:

  • the audio controls may be on the first page -or- go the mic and audio
  • use volume controls for the lapel or handheld mic
  • return microphone to charger
